Volunteer trail builders are the backbone of our sport. At any given time, in any given place, there will be individuals and teams of people giving up their valuable time to give us a place to escape. We cannot thank you all enough.
But it’s not only about building trails, it’s also about building community. A day spent side-by-side at a slower pace than on a bike means conversations and getting to know each other a little better.
We recently had an opportunity to do just this and spent a day helping build a new trail. It was fun, it was hard work, and we also got to meet a whole bunch of new people who loved mountain biking. We took along the very handy Dakine Party Bucket to store post-work refreshments to pass around at the end of the day to say thanks as we continued the conversations while admiring all the hard work. It may be called a ‘Party’ bucket, but on this day, it was more a ‘thank you’ bucket.
Thank you to all the volunteer trail builders around the world. You rule!
